We employed Alan Shand of A&S Maintenance to renovate our basement flat. This involved putting up new ceilings throughout, installing a new boiler, re-plumbing throughout, re-wiring throughout, bricking up doors, making stud walls, fitting a new kitchen, laundry room and two bathrooms, tiling and sanding floors. Alan oversaw the entire job.

What he didn’t do himself, he subcontracted. All the tradesmen he employed turned up on time and did the work within budget. The flat was renovated within the timeframe Alan set out at the start of the job, and in accordance with his estimate. We were entirely happy with the quality of his workmanship. Indeed, he’s since put in another kitchen for us and installed a reclaimed spiral staircase on the back of our house. This latter job involved organising a welder, who again worked within the budget and timescale specified. Alan is trustworthy, hardworking and capable of tackling a very wide range of building work. We could not recommend his services highly enough
